    Description

The Lac Cornu and Lacs Noirs in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc

This hiking quotation system is indicative. Hire me as a mountain leader or evolve at your own risk. Please, do not overestimate your capacities. Mountain can be a hostile environment.

Lac Cornu (2276m) and lacs Noirs (2535/2550m) are not as popular as Lac Blanc for those visiting Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. The atmosphere will be less crowded to appreciate an incredible view towards Rochers des Fiz and the Aravis mountain range.

The first part of the hike to Lac Cornu follows the 4WD track. At the sign post take the alpine track pointing Lac Cornu direction. This trail is getting steeper and steeper near lac Cornu Pass (2406m). After the pass, you will discover a splendid mineral landscape overhanging a deep blue lake taking the shape of a heart: Lac Cornu.
Lacs Noirs are just 45min-1h away. There is a lot of chance both lakes are still frozen! Several chamois will look at you from a boulder out of the corner of their eyes. Follow the same track back to Planpraz mid station.
