The word ‘standard’ is taboo in the bike industry. Bicycles are constantly evolving, and at least one new standard is introduced every two years. If you want to be at ease with bike repairs, the only solution is to get some training. That way you’ll avoid the nasty surprise of too much wear and tear, and you’ll be better aware of the maintenance that needs to be carried out at more or less frequent intervals.

My master’s degree in sports engineering and my extensive experience in the field since my round-the-world trip in 2012 mean that I now have both a technical eye and experience of use.
Now also qualified as International Mountain leader and mountain bike instructor I’m your expert on hiking, trekking and mountain bike (AE) equipment.

My life path is rather atypical. I did brilliantly in my studies, I spoke up to three foreign languages when travelling around the world was my daily routine, I visited countries by bike, slept in local people’s homes, hitchhiked thousands of kilometres… and yet, despite all my web – photo – video – software skills, I always aspired to a simple life and to do things I enjoyed. I think it’s essential to prioritise quality of life over career, and there’s an urgent need to refocus young people on what is truly meaningful and important today.
